In the newly released trailer for Mountainhead, four tech moguls vanish to a luxury retreat atop a remote mountain—fleeing the PR inferno sparked by their AI social platform, “Traam,” being linked to political violence and global destabilization. What begins as a spiritual cleanse rapidly unravels into chaos, as each character is forced to reckon with their own complicity and absurd detachment from reality.

Steve Carell plays Dean Travers, the faux-humble CEO whose “mindfulness journey” is as artificial as his facial expressions. Jason Schwartzman brings neurotic brilliance to Blaine, a failing founder desperate to stay relevant. Ramy Youssef and Cory Michael Smith round out the group as cynical data barons equally trapped between guilt and greed.

Directed with pitch-black wit by Jesse Armstrong, Mountainhead blends sharp satire and survivalist absurdity into a social commentary as biting as it is hilarious. The ensemble cast delivers rich, conflicted performances in a story that skewers tech messianism, unchecked power, and performative morality.

Mountainhead premieres May 31 on HBO and Max.
