Paul Thomas Anderson’s Cameron Winter Concert Film Will World Premiere at NYFF 64

‘Cameron Winter at Carnegie Hall’ debuts October 1, continuing Anderson’s decades-long relationship with the festival.

Film at Lincoln Center has added Paul Thomas Anderson’s Cameron Winter at Carnegie Hall to the Spotlight section of the 64th New York Film Festival. The film will have its world premiere October 1 at Alice Tully Hall, screening on 35mm with both Anderson and Winter in attendance. NYFF64 runs September 25 through October 12, presented by Film at Lincoln Center in partnership with Rolex.

The film captures Cameron Winter’s December 11, 2025 performance at Carnegie Hall, a stripped-down solo set with Winter accompanying himself on a Steinway grand. Winter, also known as the frontman of the band Geese, has built a reputation as a distinctive solo artist in his own right, and this show reportedly cemented that reputation further. Anderson was in the room with a crew that included Licorice Pizza collaborator Benny Safdie, shooting the concert on 16mm and 35mm.

NYFF Artistic Director Dennis Lim called the result “a concert movie for the ages,” describing it as a filmmaker with a rare feel for music capturing a generational talent at his peak. Janus Films and Criterion will release the film.

A Filmmaker With Deep Roots At This Festival

Cameron Winter at Carnegie Hall extends a relationship between Anderson and NYFF that goes back decades. Boogie Nights played the Main Slate at NYFF35. Punch-Drunk Love was the Centerpiece selection at NYFF40. Inherent Vice had its world premiere as the NYFF52 Centerpiece film, and Anderson’s first music documentary, Junun, premiered at NYFF53. Most recently, Film at Lincoln Center hosted the New York premiere of his six-time Oscar-winning One Battle After Another on 70mm, with Anderson and the cast in attendance, alongside 70mm screenings of Boogie Nights, The Master, and Inherent Vice at the Walter Reade Theater.

Winter himself isn’t limited to one film at this year’s festival either. He also appears in Jonathan Glazer’s Joy of Joys, another NYFF64 Spotlight selection making its own world premiere at the festival.

NYFF 64 Tickets And Festival Details

The NYFF Main Slate and Spotlight selection committee is chaired by Dennis Lim and includes Florence Almozini, Justin Chang, and Rachel Rosen. Pass holders and Film at Lincoln Center members get pre-sale access ahead of the general public, with single tickets going on sale Tuesday, September 15 at noon ET.
