‘Obsession’ Hits Digital: Where to Watch Curry Barker’s Horror Phenomenon at Home
Focus Features
Curry Barker’s record-breaking Focus Features breakout is now available to rent or buy digitally while still continuing its theatrical run.
‘Obsession’ is no longer just a theatrical phenomenon. Now, it can follow audiences home.
Curry Barker’s breakout horror film is officially available on digital platforms as of June 30, giving fans the chance to rent or buy the Focus Features release while it continues its massive theatrical run. Universal Pictures Home Entertainment announced that ‘Obsession’ is now available on digital and will arrive on 4K Ultra HD combo pack, Blu-ray and DVD on July 14.
The release comes after one of the most improbable box office stories of the year. ‘Obsession’ crossed $200 million globally earlier this month, becoming Focus Features’ biggest movie of all time. After passing $222 million, it also became the top-grossing festival acquisition in history, turning Barker’s supernatural horror breakout into a genuine cultural event rather than simply another indie genre success.
The film is available as a premium video-on-demand release on Prime Video and Apple TV, where it can be purchased for $24.99 or rented for $19.99. Decider also reports that the digital release includes bonus material, including a behind-the-scenes featurette and commentary from Barker.
Written and directed by Barker, ‘Obsession’ follows a hopeless romantic who breaks the mysterious “One Wish Willow” in an attempt to win his crush’s heart, only to discover that getting exactly what he asked for comes with a dark and sinister price. Michael Johnston and Inde Navarrette lead the cast, with Cooper Tomlinson, Megan Lawless, Haley Fitzgerald, Darin Toonder and Andy Richter also appearing.
Part of what has made ‘Obsession’ such a phenomenon is how quickly it moved from festival buzz to mainstream horror obsession. Barker, who first drew attention with the microbudget YouTube horror film ‘Milk & Serial,’ has become one of the genre’s fastest-rising new filmmakers. With ‘Obsession,’ he has turned a romantic wish gone wrong into the kind of nightmare that audiences clearly wanted to experience together first, then revisit at home.

The home release also gives fans access to exclusive bonus features when purchased through participating digital retailers. According to Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, ‘Obsession Unleashed’ takes viewers behind the scenes with Barker and cast members Johnston, Navarrette, Tomlinson and Lawless, including reflections on key scenes, a look at Johnston and Navarrette’s chemistry test and insight into how the actors shaped the film’s emotional and unsettling core. The digital release also includes feature commentary with Barker, who wrote, directed and edited the film.
For collectors, the 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD editions arrive July 14. The physical editions will include the film’s R-rated cut, with a listed runtime of 1 hour, 48 minutes and 37 seconds on 4K and Blu-ray. Universal’s technical details list the rating as R for strong bloody violence, grisly images, sexual content, pervasive language and brief graphic nudity.
POPULAR ON THE CINEMA GROUP
A Peacock streaming date has not yet been officially announced. Because ‘Obsession’ is a Focus Features title under the Universal Pictures umbrella, it is expected to eventually stream on Peacock, but for now the film’s at-home availability is limited to premium digital rental and purchase.
That timing feels right for a film that has already built a loyal following. Horror fans who helped drive ‘Obsession’ to record-setting theatrical numbers can now pause, rewind and rewatch the film’s most talked-about moments, while new viewers can catch up on one of the year’s biggest genre stories before the conversation moves fully into physical media and streaming.
For Barker, the digital release marks another stage in a remarkable rise. For Focus Features, it is a victory lap. For horror audiences, it is simple: the year’s most unexpected breakout is finally available at home.
