From Heidi Klum’s severed hand to Harry Styles’ Elvis and Zendaya’s Halle Berry, these are the looks that won Halloween.

If you want to know which movies actually landed with the culture in 2026, skip the box office charts and look at what Hollywood wore for Halloween. The costume racks were full of the year’s biggest talking points: Inde Navarrette‘s Nikki from Obsession, Elizabeth Holmes as she appears in You Can See Everything, Count Orlok from Nosferatu, the orange Marty Supreme premiere looks, the hockey romance Heated Rivalry and a pair of Avengers: Doomsday characters swapped between the actors who play them.

The headliners delivered too. Heidi Klum marked the 25th edition of her New York party by arriving as a giant severed hand, Harry Styles turned Madison Square Garden into Elvis Presley’s Las Vegas, Zendaya recreated one of Halle Berry’s most famous red carpet looks, and Sabrina Carpenter and Olivia Rodrigo went straight to the movies. Here are the best celebrity Halloween costumes of 2026. This list will be updated as more stars post their looks.

Heidi Klum as a Severed Hand

Nobody owns Halloween like Heidi Klum, and for the 25th anniversary of her party at Cathedrale at the Moxy East Village, she arrived as a bloody severed hand, delivered by a truck covered in danger signs and lowered to the ground by actors in yellow hazmat suits. The hand was modeled on her own, rings and manicure included, with her face at its center. Klum again worked with special effects makeup artist Mike Marino, an Emmy winner for The Penguin, who called it one of the most elaborate costumes they have ever built. Past years have brought Medusa, E.T., a peacock, Fiona from Shrek and her famous worm.

Harry Styles as Elvis Presley, Pizza Rat and Himself

Harry Styles opened his Harryween run at Madison Square Garden on Oct. 30 as Elvis Presley in his 1970s Las Vegas residency era, white jumpsuit, cape, sunglasses and all, with Presley’s granddaughter Riley Keough in the crowd. Over the run he also went as New York’s Pizza Rat and, in a self-own fans loved, his own 2010 audition for The X Factor.

Robert Downey Jr. and Pedro Pascal as Each Other’s Marvel Roles

The best movie costume of the year came from inside the movie. Robert Downey Jr. and Pedro Pascal swapped their Avengers: Doomsday roles, with Downey suiting up as Pascal’s Reed Richards, aka Mister Fantastic, and Pascal wearing Downey’s Doctor Doom armor. It is a sharp bit of marketing seven weeks before the film opens in theaters on Dec. 18, and it works because both of them look like they are having a ball.

Zendaya as Halle Berry

Zendaya‘s longtime stylist Law Roach shared her take on the Lanvin look Halle Berry wore to the New York premiere of X-Men in 2000. It is the kind of fashion-history reference only those two would pick, and they nailed it.

Elle Fanning as Suzanne Stone in ‘To Die For’

Elle Fanning went back to Gus Van Sant’s 1995 dark comedy To Die For as Suzanne Stone, the ambitious weather girl that won Nicole Kidman a Golden Globe. Her husband, Gus Wenner, completed the pairing as Joaquin Phoenix‘s Jimmy Emmett.

Sabrina Carpenter and Amber Mark as Penny and Seaweed

Sabrina Carpenter and Amber Mark went to Baltimore as Penny Pingleton and Seaweed J. Stubbs, the star-crossed pair from Hairspray.

Olivia Rodrigo as Marie Antoinette

Olivia Rodrigo let them eat cake as Marie Antoinette, towering powdered hair included, a look that fits right alongside Sofia Coppola‘s Marie Antoinette, which just landed on 4K from the Criterion Collection.

Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie as ‘Bugonia’

The stars of Heated Rivalry traded hockey gear for Yorgos Lanthimos‘ Bugonia. Connor Storrie shaved his head and coated his skin in antihistamine cream as Emma Stone‘s kidnapped executive Michelle, while Hudson Williams took the rumpled suit of Jesse Plemons‘ conspiracy theorist Teddy.

Charli xcx as Lee Holloway in ‘Secretary’

Charli xcx went deep into the 2002 indie canon as Lee Holloway, Maggie Gyllenhaal‘s character in Secretary, a reference built for film nerds.

Laufey and Conan Gray as Margot and Richie Tenenbaum

Laufey and Conan Gray paid tribute to Wes Anderson‘s The Royal Tenenbaums as Margot and Richie, the roles played by Gwyneth Paltrow and Luke Wilson, fur coat and headband included.

Kim Kardashian as North West

Kim Kardashian went with the most personal costume possible and dressed as her daughter, North West, copying her signature aqua hair, piercings, long nails and black grills.

Paris Hilton as Britney Spears and Belle

Paris Hilton is rolling out several costumes this year. The standout is Britney Spears‘ “I’m a Slave 4 U” performance from the 2001 MTV Video Music Awards, a tribute that lands harder because the two were fixtures of the same early-2000s tabloid era.

For the family costume, Hilton was Belle from Beauty and the Beast, with husband Carter Reum as the Beast and their children, Phoenix and London, as Lumiere and Chip.

Lizzo and Rita Ora as Dolly Parton

Two stars paid tribute to Dolly Parton, who died in August. Lizzo dressed as the country legend and thanked her for including her on the 2023 album Rockstar, then changed into a second look as Gina Byrams, Playboy’s first International Bunny of the Year. Rita Ora went with Parton’s look from the 9 to 5 and Odd Jobs album cover.

Janelle Monae as Phish Boy and Mother Creature

Nobody in Hollywood takes Halloween more seriously than Janelle Monae. She introduced Phish Boy, an original creature with bulging eyes, fins and a tie, then hosted her Wondaween: Creature Carnival party at the Santa Monica Pier as Mother Creature, head-to-toe prosthetics so graphic that Instagram put a warning on the post. Keke Palmer joined her as Keke Frankenstein and dropped a new song of the same name.

Keke Palmer as Janet Jackson

Keke Palmer and her 3-year-old son also recreated Janet and Michael Jackson’s 1995 “Scream” video, the black-and-white, zero-gravity spaceship clip that still ranks among the most expensive music videos ever made. The mother-and-son version might be the most charming costume of the year.

Teyana Taylor as Jimmy Neutron

Fresh off her Oscar nomination for One Battle After Another, Teyana Taylor went full millennial nostalgia as Jimmy Neutron, with friends as Sheen and the robot dog Goddard.

Karol G as the Corpse Bride

Karol G borrowed from Tim Burton as Emily, the blue-skinned bride from Corpse Bride.

Doechii as Grace Jones

Doechii channeled Grace Jones, one of the most imitated and least matched looks in pop history, and pulled it off.

Jennie as Suki From ‘2 Fast 2 Furious’

Blackpink’s Jennie went with a niche movie pick: Suki, the pink-haired street racer Devon Aoki played in 2 Fast 2 Furious.

Christina Aguilera and Chappell Roan at Xtinaween

Christina Aguilera hosted her annual Xtinaween in Beverly Hills under the theme Creepy Carnival: After Dark, dressed as a fantasy harlequin clown in a custom corset by Agro Studio. Chappell Roan was among the guests, along with Imagine Dragons’ Dan Reynolds and MGK.

The Best of Heidi Klum’s Party

Klum’s guests brought their own movie references. Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka were the ghost twins from Stanley Kubrick‘s The Shining, and Eric McCormack was Freddie Mercury. Kyle MacLachlan wore his own Cliff Vandercave costume from 1994’s The Flintstones, the original, he said. Model Haley Kalil was Jessica Rabbit, and Andrew Rannells and Tuc Watkins dressed as a pair of World War I French sailors.

Live! With Kelly and Mark’s Shockin’ Eve

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos packed more than 60 costumes into one episode, with former co-host Ryan Seacrest back for a New Year’s Eve-themed Halloween. The movie references came fast: Consuelos as Spider-Man from Spider-Man: Brand New Day with Ripa’s Yelena Belova in tow, Anne Hathaway’s Penelope and Matt Damon’s Odysseus from Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, flirting hockey players from Heated Rivalry, Bad Bunny and Lady Gaga at the Super Bowl halftime show, and the whole Live team as Toy Story 5 characters, with Ripa as Jessie, Consuelos as Buzz Lightyear, producer Michael Gelman as Woody and DJ Deja Vu as Bo Peep.

The pretaped bits were the real treat. Ripa played Inde Navarrette‘s Nikki from Obsession, the indie horror sensation that crossed $400 million worldwide this summer, opposite Consuelos as a squishy creature. She also took on Elizabeth Holmes as she appears in You Can See Everything in a Traitors parody. Guest Lisa Rinna then showed up as Kylie Jenner alongside Gelman as Timothee Chalamet, recreating the couple’s matching orange looks from the Marty Supreme Los Angeles premiere.

The Today Show’s NBC 100th Anniversary Tour

Today turned Halloween into a tribute to NBC’s centennial. Savannah Guthrie played an NBC page leading a tour through 30 Rockefeller Plaza, passing Willie Geist as Johnny Carson’s Carnac the Magnificent, Dylan Dreyer as Barbara Eden’s I Dream of Jeannie, and Al Roker as Eddie Murphy’s SNL Gumby. Guthrie and Jenna Bush Hager became Rachel and Phoebe from Friends, with Bush Hager’s cat as Smelly Cat. Laura Jarrett went as Simone Biles, Craig Melvin played Snoop Dogg with the real Martha Stewart at his side, Sheinelle Jones danced with the Rockettes and Carson Daly was a startlingly convincing Ella Langley. The best surprise was Jack McBrayer returning as Kenneth Parcell, the 30 Rock page who would have loved every second of it.

Tyga as a Martian and Count Orlok

Tyga went double feature. First came a Martian from Tim Burton‘s 1996 cult favorite Mars Attacks!, bulging brain and all. Then he went full gothic as Count Orlok, the vampire Bill Skarsgard played under heavy prosthetics in Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu, which earned four Oscar nominations.

Lorde went back to the children’s book shelf as the Rainbow Fish, shimmering scales and all.

Ice Spice as Patrick Star

Brandy as Barbie

Brandy dressed as the Barbie made in her likeness, and the caption explained why it matters. “Being the first Black woman to have a Barbie made in my likeness will always mean so much to me,” she wrote.

Usher and Family as ‘Toy Story’

Usher and the Raymond family went to infinity and beyond as the gang from Pixar’s Toy Story, a timely pick in the year Toy Story 5 hit theaters.

Rickey Thompson as Zendaya

Rickey Thompson recreated the look Zendaya wore to the 2011 premiere of Justin Bieber: Never Say Never. Fifteen years later, Zendaya is one of the biggest stars in the world, and the costume is a love letter to the Disney Channel era before all of it.

Alex Consani as a Thumb-Thumb

Model Alex Consani went full Spy Kids as one of Fegan Floop’s Thumb-Thumbs.
