Tom Holland’s fourth solo outing is now the second-fastest film ever to hit the milestone, trailing only ‘Avengers: Endgame.’
Spider-Man: Brand New Day has crossed $2 billion at the global box office, reaching the milestone in just 19 days. That makes it the second-fastest film in history to get there, behind only Avengers: Endgame‘s 11-day run. The film has grossed $785 million domestically and $1.23 billion overseas.
Now it’s the first solo superhero movie ever to reach $2 billion.
It’s also only the eighth film ever to cross the threshold, joining a list that includes Avatar, Endgame, Avatar: The Way of Water, Titanic, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
The previous Spider-Man installment, Spider-Man: No Way Home, came close at $1.9 billion but never played in China and missed the mark entirely.
Holland’s fourth outing as Peter Parker opened to a record $355 million domestically and $932 million globally. Not to mention the film crossed $1 billion at the Box Office in just six days.
With momentum still strong, box office watchers are now wondering whether it can become the first film ever to hit $1 billion domestically. That title is held by The Force Awakens currently holds that record at $936 million. But mainly, whether the web-slinger has a shot at being the first movie ever to reach $3 billion worldwide. Only time will tell.
