Owen Wilson stars as Pryce Cahill, a fallen golf star seeking redemption through a gifted teen protégé in Stick, Apple’s new original film.

Pryce Cahill (Owen Wilson) once stood on the verge of golfing immortality—until a legendary on-course meltdown shattered his career and his confidence. Now working odd jobs and nursing regret, Pryce gets an unexpected shot at personal redemption when he crosses paths with Santi, a gifted teenage player whose raw talent and emotional volatility mirror his own younger self.

Apple TV+’s upcoming sports drama Stick explores the pressure-packed world of competitive golf through the lens of mentorship, failure, and the elusive pursuit of greatness. In the newly released trailer, we see Pryce reluctantly agree to coach Santi, not out of altruism, but because his own livelihood is hanging by a thread. What begins as a transactional partnership evolves into something deeper, as both men confront their inner demons—one haunted by past failure, the other burdened by impossible expectations.

Director Jamal Evans (of Break Point acclaim) brings a sharp, kinetic energy to a story steeped in generational trauma, racial bias in elite sports, and the thin line between genius and implosion. Wilson dials down his signature charm to deliver one of his most grounded performances in years, while newcomer Mateo Arias brings startling depth to the role of Santi.

Set against sun-drenched courses and backroom politics, Stick plays with the idea of what it means to build a legacy—and who gets to have one. The film is more than a comeback tale; it’s a study in obsession, mentorship, and the price of potential.
