Actor Awards Nominations: ‘One Battle After Another’ Leads Film With 7 as ‘The Studio’ Tops TV

The newly renamed Actor Awards kick off awards season momentum with major showings for Warner Bros.’ ‘One Battle After Another’ and Apple TV+’s ‘The Studio.’

The nominations for the 2026 Actor Awards — formerly known as the SAG Awards — have officially been unveiled, marking the first year of the ceremony under its new name. The honors, presented by SAG-AFTRA, will stream live on Netflix on Sunday, March 1, from the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles.

On the film side, Warner Bros.’ One Battle After Another emerged as the clear frontrunner, earning seven nominations — the most of any film this year — including a coveted nod for Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble. Close behind is Sinners with five nominations, while Frankenstein, Hamnet, and Marty Supreme each secured three nods. Of those latter titles, only Frankenstein also landed a stunt ensemble nomination.

All five films — Frankenstein, Hamnet, Marty Supreme, One Battle After Another, and Sinners — will compete for the ceremony’s top film honor: Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, one of the most closely watched awards of the season and a frequent Oscar bellwether.

Television categories were led by Apple TV+’s The Studio, which scored five nominations, the most of any series this year. Adolescence and The White Lotus followed closely with four nominations apiece. Notably, none of the top-nominated TV titles were recognized in the stunt ensemble category.

In comedy ensemble, the nominees include Abbott Elementary, The Bear, Hacks, Only Murders in the Building, and The Studio, underscoring a competitive year for half-hour series. The drama ensemble race is similarly stacked, with The Diplomat, Landman, The Pitt, Severance, and The White Lotus all vying for top honors.

The nominations were announced during a livestream hosted by Heated Rivalry’s Connor Storrie and Abbott Elementary’s Janelle James, which aired on Netflix’s YouTube channel. In addition to the competitive categories, Harrison Ford will be honored with this year’s Life Achievement Award.

The rebrand from the SAG Awards to the Actor Awards was announced in November, with showrunner Jon Brockett and SAG-AFTRA Awards Committee chair JoBeth Williams calling the change “a perfect next step in the show’s evolution.” In explaining the decision, the pair emphasized alignment with the statuette’s long-standing name — The Actor — and a desire for clearer global recognition of what the ceremony celebrates: performances in film and television.

This year’s announcement also arrived on the anniversary of the Palisades and Eaton fires that impacted Los Angeles in 2025. Reflecting on the moment, SAG-AFTRA president Sean Astin praised the industry’s response, noting the collective effort to support one another during a challenging period.

Last year’s ceremony saw Conclave take the top film ensemble prize, while Timothée Chalamet and Demi Moore won leading acting honors. On the television side, Shogun and Only Murders in the Building claimed the drama and comedy ensemble awards, respectively — setting a high bar for this year’s contenders as awards season accelerates.
