What John Oliver, Seth Rogen, and More Emmy Winners Said in Their Bleeped Speeches

From “F**K ICE” to John Oliver’s rapid-fire rant, the 2025 Emmys were bleep-happy — and unapologetically raw.
The 77th Emmy Awards might have been hosted by clean comic Nate Bargatze, but the night was anything but G-rated.
Broadcast live on CBS, the ceremony was punctuated by more than a few muted moments — not for technical glitches, but for a flood of f-bombs and politically charged language from the winners themselves. The network cut audio multiple times as recipients took the mic with passion, punchlines, and profanity.
Even Bargatze got in on the joke, announcing a “swear jar” after realizing how many speeches would require censorship.
Here’s a look at what Emmy viewers didn’t hear
Hannah Einbinder: “F**K ICE” and “Free Palestine”
Hacks star Hannah Einbinder took home her first Emmy for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy, and she didn’t hold back. After a gracious start, she closed her speech with a double-barrel political statement: “Fuck ICE” and “Free Palestine,” both of which were bleeped on air. The call-out comes amid escalating immigration crackdowns under Donald Trump’s second term and growing calls within Hollywood for a stronger pro-Palestinian stance.
John Oliver: “F**K you, Nate Bargatze”
Last Week Tonight host John Oliver continued his unbroken Emmys run, winning Scripted Variety Series for the third consecutive year after the category was recategorized. Racing through his speech to avoid docking funds from a charity donation — a bit introduced by Bargatze earlier in the night — Oliver ended with a playful jab: “Fuck you, Nate Bargatze, that is a lot of money for you!” He added, “And you can add a ‘fuck’ to the swear jar as well.”
Erin Doherty: “You’re All F**King Stunning”
British actress Erin Doherty, who won Best Supporting Actress in a Limited Series for her work in Adolescence, kept things warm and sincere before wrapping her acceptance speech with the exclamation, “You’re all fucking stunning!” While her words were likely intended as a heartfelt salute, they didn’t make it past the CBS censor button.

Seth Rogen: “We Fucked Over the Boys and Girls”
As The Studio closed out the night with a Best Comedy Series win, Seth Rogen — who had already taken home multiple awards — took a moment to acknowledge the comedic bit about charity deductions. “If anyone else wants to say something, we’re already in debt,” he joked. “We fucked over the Boys and Girls, so.” (The final donation ended up being $350,000.)

While the Emmys remained celebratory and often sentimental, these moments of unfiltered honesty gave the night its edge. For all the polish of the Peacock Theater, the bleeped-out comments reminded audiences that live TV — especially during awards season — is still one of the last places for spontaneity and unscripted rebellion.
