From London to New York, two red carpets got a whole lot cheekier thanks to jaw-dropping sheer looks from Margot Robbie and Dakota Johnson.
Naked dressing may be a red carpet trend, but Margot Robbie and Dakota Johnson just turned it into a full-blown fashion statement.
On Thursday night, the red carpets on both sides of the Atlantic delivered unforgettable moments as two of Hollywood's biggest stars stepped out in barely there ensembles that redefined the limits of sheer style. Margot Robbie, attending the London premiere of her new film A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, stunned in a custom Giorgio Armani Privé gown. Meanwhile, Dakota Johnson lit up the Kering Caring for Women gala in New York in a sheer black Gucci look that left little to the imagination.
Robbie's look came just days after the death of iconic Italian designer Giorgio Armani at age 91, making her appearance a poignant and playful tribute to his legacy. The Barbie star and new mother wore a floor-length gown from Armani Privé's Spring/Summer 2025 couture collection, featuring a sheer nude base embroidered with intricate beaded floral and paisley motifs. The silhouette highlighted Robbie's figure, but the headline-making moment came when she turned around: the dress revealed her entire backside, accented only by crisscrossed straps and a crystal pendant at the small of her back. The star finished the look with silver Aquazzura heels and her signature relaxed waves.
Across the pond, Dakota Johnson arrived at the Kering gala in her own interpretation of the sheer trend. The actress, who recently starred in Splitsville and Materialists, wore a striking black mesh gown by Gucci that exposed a matching bra and panty set by Fleur du Mal underneath. Styled by Kate Young, the look featured floral embroidery across a high-neck silhouette with a long train. Johnson accessorized with Jessica McCormack emerald and diamond hoop earrings and a moonshine diamond necklace, elevating the sultry look with high-end sparkle.
Held at The Pool in New York City, the Kering Caring for Women gala brought out an A-list guest list, including Salma Hayek, Demi Moore, Jessica Chastain, Julianne Moore, Adrien Brody, and Lauren Sanchez Bezos. Also in attendance were publishing powerhouses Anna Wintour, Chloe Malle (Vogue’s new editor-in-chief), and Mark Guiducci (Vanity Fair's newly appointed top editor), who posed together alongside filmmaker Baz Luhrmann.

Meanwhile in London, Robbie was joined by co-star Colin Farrell, who looked sharp in a double-breasted cotton trench coat from Dolce & Gabbana layered over a martini-fit button-down shirt and wool pants. He completed the look with a satin tie and glossy leather derby shoes.
