Netflix’s gothic hit brings back a fan-favorite from the grave as Wednesday faces her most personal haunting yet.
The halls of Nevermore Academy are about to get a little more crowded—by the living and the dead. In the newly released trailer for Wednesday Season 2 Part 2, Emmy Myers’ return as Larissa Weems comes as the biggest shock. Once the formidable, shapeshifting principal of Nevermore, Weems met her demise in the season one finale. Now, she’s back, but not quite as before—serving as Wednesday Addams’ unwelcome “spirit guide,” visible only to her, and seemingly intent on making her presence (and opinions) known.
The trailer keeps one of the season’s most anticipated casting moves—Lady Gaga’s still-mysterious role—under wraps. What it does show is Wednesday, played by Jenna Ortega, visibly rattled by this spectral reunion while balancing new mysteries that intertwine with her evolving place in Nevermore’s world.
Season two has already been a juggernaut for Netflix, with the first four episodes dominating the streamer’s global TV charts at 50 million views, matching the breakout performance of the series’ 2022 debut. The second half drops September 3, promising to escalate the stakes and deepen the psychological threads that have made the show a cultural phenomenon.
Ortega, speaking in a recent Hollywood Reporter cover story, noted the creative freedom this season has afforded the team. “Netflix has a lot more trust this time around,” she said. “We were able to do things on a grander scale and spend more time on sequences. Working with actors like Steve Buscemi and Billie Piper pushes you because they’re so gifted.”
That trust hasn’t come without pressure. Ortega admitted to obsessing over every detail of her performance, down to posture and stillness: “I don’t think I’ve ever shot a scene in my life that hasn’t kept me up at night and given me nightmares.”

Showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar remain focused on keeping Wednesday’s arc fresh while protecting her essence. “She has to have some emotional progression each season,” Millar said. “It doesn’t necessarily need to be articulated in a traditional way, but there has to be a level of progression without diluting the iconic-ness of Wednesday. It’s a knife-edge of tone and character. We never want to betray Wednesday.”
With Weems’ ghostly return, high-profile new cast members, and Wednesday’s character evolution walking that knife-edge, Part 2 of Season 2 looks ready to haunt fans in more ways than one.
