The Arconia’s amateur sleuths are back—and this time, they’re digging into the death of their own doorman.
Hulu’s Emmy-winning murder mystery comedy Only Murders in the Building is heading back to the Arconia for its fifth season, and as the new trailer makes clear, trouble is once again close to home. The upcoming season, premiering September 9 with three episodes, centers on the suspicious death of the building’s beloved doorman, Lester (Teddy Coluca), and the trio’s refusal to accept it as an accident.
Charles (Steve Martin), Oliver (Martin Short), and Mabel (Selena Gomez) find themselves knee-deep in another high-stakes investigation, retracing Lester’s final moments through the Arconia’s shadowy hallways and into the darker corners of New York City. As Charles dryly observes in the trailer, the Arconia is “the most murderous building in New York”—and this time, their case points to a dangerous web involving powerful billionaires, old-school mobsters, and a clash between old New York and its more cutthroat modern iteration.
Season five sees the return of familiar faces including Michael Cyril Creighton, Meryl Streep, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Nathan Lane, and Richard Kind, while adding a star-packed roster of newcomers: Renée Zellweger, Keegan-Michael Key, Christoph Waltz, Logan Lerman, Téa Leoni, Beanie Feldstein, Dianne Wiest, and Jermaine Fowler.
POPULAR ON THE CINEMA GROUP
Co-created by Martin and John Hoffman, with Hoffman serving as showrunner, Only Murders in the Building continues to balance tightly constructed mysteries with whip-smart comedy and endearing character arcs. The series is executive produced by Martin, Short, Gomez, Hoffman, Dan Fogelman, Jess Rosenthal, Ben Smith, and JJ Philbin.
After the three-episode premiere on September 9, new episodes will roll out weekly—meaning fans will be sleuthing alongside Charles, Oliver, and Mabel well into the fall. With a stacked cast and a mystery that hits closer to home than ever, season five promises to be the series’ most personal and perilous chapter yet.
