From superhero epics to legacy sequels, these red carpet looks stole the show.
This month has delivered major blockbuster releases and even bigger red-carpet moments. While the box office is heating up, so too are the star-studded looks making headlines around the world. From superhero suits to surreal silhouettes, July was full of fashion moments that had just as much star power as the films themselves. Let’s break down the boldest, most talked-about red-carpet ensembles from July’s biggest premieres.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps — Monochrome Power and Heroic Elegance
Premieres: July 10 (London), July 21 (Los Angeles)
The new The Fantastic Four: First Steps film premiered in Los Angeles, Hollywood on 21 July, and the event was flooded with blues and monochrome shades. Pedro Pascal (Mr Fantastic) was suited by Tom Ford x Haider Ackermann in a white dinner jacket, with black trousers and a white tank beneath a spotted silk foulard scarf. He had a red carnation pinned to his lapel that resembled Indiana Jones’ outfit in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, sparking rumours of his involvement in the upcoming reboot. Using the same colour-blocking technique, Joseph Quinn (Human Torch) wore a full Givenchy ensemble with an ivory notch-lapel jacket and silk shirt, charcoal trousers, and minimal accessories. Vanessa Kirby (The Invisible Woman) showed off her baby bump in a fishnet — fabric perhaps symbolic of her character’s invisible powers — Givenchy gown over a tight bodysuit, in the film’s recognisable sky blue. The dress flared at the bottom, giving it a flattering mermaid tail shape. Speaking of mermaids, the final member of the Fantastic Four (Julia Garner a.k.a Silver Surfer) wore an oceanic, iridescent blue and teal Gucci strapless dress with a sweetheart neckline, thigh-high slit, and folds at the waist.
The cast also wowed at the 10 July London premiere. On theme for her character, Garner wore a shimmering silver asymmetric Thom Browne gown that draped from her left shoulder, across her waist and to the floor, revealing her torso and pale grey peekaboo bralette. Quinn was dressed head-to-toe in fitted electric blue Brioni, whereas Pascal’s outfit had only a touch of blue in his paisley scarf, paired with a brown polka-dot silk jacquard suit, again by Tom Ford. Kirby’s Loewe A/W 25 dress was much more surreal than the other premiere looks, structurally abstract with a beaded fringe design. This turquoise dress concealed her bump and danced with every step she took.

Superman — Comic Book Chic and Caped Glamour
Premieres: July 2 (London), July 7 (Los Angeles)

Superman premiered on 7 July in L.A. Both David Corenswet (Superman) and Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane) wore Ralph Lauren’s finest garments. Corenswet sported a RL Purple Label (the brand’s most luxurious range) navy pinstripe three-piece suit, a Rolex 1908, a pair of black brogues, and a little more hair on his face — but less on his buzzed head — than in the film. His outfit was a reference to Clark Kent’s classic pinstripe suit in the first comics. Brosnahan showed up in a custom slinky, shimmering purple RL gown with sharp hourglass cut-outs at the waist that sculpted her, contrasting its sleek flow from her hips to the floor. Also hinting at the original comics, Brosnahan’s vibrant dress shone the same violet colour as the comic Lois Lane’s eyes and the clothes she frequently wore. Nicholas Hoult nodded to his character Lex Luther with villainous ebony leather Saint Laurent trousers, a white shirt beneath a black woollen blazer, a striped tie, and sunglasses.
AMBER ASALY
Isabela Merced, who plays Hawkgirl, wore a seductive Yanina Couture S/S 19 dress, her structured bob hairstyle reminiscent of Betty Boop. Flesh-coloured with black sequinned feathering over the torso, which became a sparkling mermaid tail silhouette starting in a tapered V-shape at the hips, this dress has been deemed by many one of this year’s most daring and show-stopping looks. Portuguese model Sara Sampaio (Eve Teschmacher) dressed for the occasion in a ruby Marmar Halim silk-chiffon gown with Grecian draping at the arms and waist — the colour and silhouette reminiscent of Superman’s cape.
An honourable mention is Brosnahan’s glittering wine red Armani Privé beaded cut-out dress that she wore to the London premiere on 2 July. With this glamorous piece, styled with Hollywood waves and diamond ear crawlers, Lois Lane outshone the Man of Steel at his own premiere. My favourite outfit from the Superman premieres was Maria Gabriela de Faria’s sheer black sequinned gown with its high neck, thigh slit, intricate lace hem and flowing cape-like sash. The actress, who played powerful villain The Engineer, wore this stunning femme-fatale dress with a slick-back braid, pointed stilettos, and minimal jewellery to the L.A. event.

Freakier Friday — Y2K Flashbacks and Disney Nostalgia
Premieres: July 22 (Los Angeles), July 24 (Mexico City)

Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis are returning to our screens for Freakier Friday, the sequel of their body-swap classic from 2003. While I will be tuning in for its release on 8 August, I had mixed opinions about the cast’s L.A. premiere outfits on 22 July. Some of the dresses seemed better suited to a school prom, and the event gave me flashbacks to the red-carpets of the early ‘00s. I felt as though Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale were going to show up in skirts worn above jeans which, as this is a Disney throwback sequel, is actually quite satisfying. If this were prom, Lohan would definitely have been crowned queen in her custom Miu Miu baby-pink rhinestone dress, which had a heart-shaped bust, cinched waist, and flared out from the hips. Chad Michael Murray made a rare red-carpet appearance, channelling Noughties nostalgia with a pale pink DSquared2 leather jacket and casual white t-shirt. Curtis, who plays the mother of Lohan’s character, power-dressed for this premiere in a brilliant red, long-sleeved bandage mini dress with sharp, padded shoulders. Also making a fierce statement, Julia Butters (playing Harper Coleman) wore a scarlet structured, low-cut bardot blazer with black capris — a look from Balmain A/W 23 — with red-bottoms at just 16 years old! Maitreyi Ramakrishnan went for a more enchanting look with her slinky opalescent periwinkle gown by Maria Lucia Hohan. Corseted, rippled, and plunging — does Ramakrishnan’s glamorous dress win this round, or does Butters’ bold look come out on top?
The sequel also premiered in Mexico City, Mexico on 24 July. Of the cast, only Lohan and Curtis attended, matching each other’s energy with complimentary colour-block outfits. Lohan wore a vibrant fuchsia Balmain Resort 2026 dress, floor-length and tight. It featured large ruffles cascading down the centre, held halter-style at the neck by a gold chain. This dress was more striking, and less ‘Disney princess’ than her previous one, but its bright colourway kept it in theme — it was the type of look that could be worn to the Teen Choice Awards… Perfect for the Freakier Friday premiere. Curtis sported a full tangerine cardigan and sequinned skirt set by Caroline Herrera (Resort 2025). Her sparkling skirt ended just below the knee, the sequins transitioning downwards in ombré from pure orange to subtle vermillion.

Jurassic World: Rebirth — Prehistoric Glamour and Jungle Couture
Premiere: July 2 (London) Additional Premieres: June 23 (New York), June (Berlin)

Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, Luna Blaise, Mahershala Ali, Rupert Friend, Ed Skrein, Audrina Miranda, Philippine Velge, and more stars made their way to London for the 2 July premiere of Jurassic World: Rebirth. Johansson wore a custom blush Vivienne Westwood gown with a boned corset, scooped neckline, and draping maxi skirt. With her red lipstick, silver platforms, chandelier earrings, and old-Hollywood waves, ScarJo stole the spotlight. Bailey also dressed up, but in a very different way… He paid homage to his character Dr Henry Loomis — the palaeontologist — with an outfit inspired by Friends character Ross Geller (David Schwimmer), who famously had the same profession in the TV series. This look included casual white jeans, a denim shirt, brown jacket, and a Friends logo baseball cap. Should we tell Bailey that he can stop method acting now?
My favourite look from the premiere was Ali’s suave, matching prehistoric-jungle get-up, consisting of Etro’s Birds of Paradise jacquard wool coat, jacket, trousers, and tie, with a white shirt peeking from beneath. This completely fern green outfit was contrasted by his signature burgundy Gigi Burris Millinery hat with Moscot sunglasses in the same shade, without which the look would make decent Jurassic camouflage. Luna Blaise donned a skintight Schiaparelli maxi dress, knitted with copper and bronze to create a snakeskin look similar to the film’s dinosaurs. The dress had fingerless gloves and a high neck, and was cut-out and buttoned down the centre. Blaise styled it with bold gold earrings and a slick-back bun.
POPULAR ON THE CINEMA GROUP
While the other premieres took place in June, therefore do not technically count, there are two looks I have to mention. While most of the cast opted for neutral creams and pale hues at the New York premiere (23 June), Blaise wore a vintage crimson dress with delicate folds, an empire waistline, and rouleaux straps. It was an Atelier Versace garment from the ‘90s, the decade of the original Jurassic Park release. Johansson attended the Berlin premiere a few days before this in a custom-made strapless Balmain dress, black with a scaly crocodile skin texture, similar to Blaise’s Schiaparelli. The eye-catching garment had a plunging sweetheart neckline with dramatic points, and a stream of gold buttons down the front.

I Know What You Did Last Summer — Slasher Sequel Style
Premiere: July 14 (Los Angeles)

The latest I Know What You Did Last Summer legacy sequel premiered in L.A. on 14 July, and the red-carpet was walked by new cast members such as Madelyn Cline, Chase Sui Wonders, Jonah Hauer-King, Tyriq Withers, Gabriette Bechtel and Sarah Pidgeon, as well as returning faces Jennifer Love Hewitt, Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar. Cline stood out in a billowing ballet-pink maxi dress by Conner Ives, which featured a plunging halter, ruching at the waist, and a high slit in the middle. Sui Wonders also caught everyone’s attention with her bold champagne corset top and mini skirt set by Weiderhoeft, with ivory lace embroidery and silk bows. None of the other actors delivered such daring boudoir beauty. Bechtel (commonly known as just Gabriette) brought her signature gothic glam to the premiere, wearing an all-black look with a lace-up corset top, straight-leg trousers, and leather arm bands. Withers made a mark with his gender-fluid Thom Browne outfit, consisting of a grey pleated kilt over trousers, and a white shirt beneath a monochrome colour-block sleeveless jumper. While Sarah Michelle Gellar only makes a cameo in the film as her old character Helen Shivers, she stole the show with her Oscar de la Renta butterfly dress. This mini dress was adorned with navy blue, orange, and white butterflies, and it was worn with Le Silla pumps and a clutch bag in matching vibrant orange.
