Two People Found Dead at Rob Reiner’s Los Angeles Home

Authorities confirm an active investigation following a medical response at the director’s Brentwood residence.

Two people were found dead Sunday afternoon at the Brentwood home of filmmaker Rob Reiner, according to authorities.

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed that firefighters responded at 3:38 p.m. to a call for medical aid at a residence in the 200 block of Chadbourne Avenue. Upon arrival, first responders discovered two deceased individuals inside the home.

The Los Angeles Fire Department identified the deceased as a 78-year-old male and a 68-year-old female. While those ages match Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, officials have not publicly identified the bodies, and no cause of death has been released.

The Los Angeles Police Department has opened an investigation into the incident. No additional details have been made public, and authorities have not indicated whether foul play is suspected. The case remains ongoing.

Reiner, one of Hollywood’s most influential filmmakers, is the director behind landmark films including This Is Spinal Tap, Stand by Me, Misery, A Few Good Men, The American President, and When Harry Met Sally. He first rose to prominence as an actor on the television series All in the Family before establishing himself as a defining voice in American studio filmmaking.

More recently, Reiner directed Spinal Tap II: The End Continues and was honored at an American Cinematheque tribute at the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica earlier this year, which he attended.

Reiner married Michele Singer, a photographer he met while working on When Harry Met Sally, in 1989. The couple share three children: Jake, Nick, and Romy.
