Christopher Nolan’s mythic IMAX epic made its world premiere in London with Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o and more in attendance.

Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’ officially began its world tour in London, and the red carpet looked every bit as massive as the movie itself.

The world premiere was held at Odeon Luxe Leicester Square, where Nolan walked the carpet with his wife and longtime producing partner Emma Thomas before introducing the film to its first audience. The premiere brought out one of the year’s most stacked ensembles, including Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, Elliot Page, Himesh Patel, John Leguizamo, Mia Goth, Benny Safdie, Travis Scott and Samantha Morton.

The film, Nolan’s first feature since ‘Oppenheimer,’ adapts Homer’s epic poem for the big screen with Damon starring as Odysseus, the warrior attempting to return home to Ithaca after the Trojan War. Hathaway plays Penelope, Holland plays Telemachus and Zendaya appears as Athena, with the ensemble also including Nyong’o, Pattinson, Theron, Leguizamo, Safdie, Page, Goth, Patel, Scott and Morton.

As expected, the fashion matched the scale of the moment. Zendaya leaned fully into the mythological mood of the film with a sculptural Schiaparelli look, continuing one of the year’s most talked-about press tours. Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron and Mia Goth also brought major red carpet moments, helping turn the London premiere into a full fashion event as much as a movie launch.

The premiere also marked the first major public stop for a film that has been treated as one of 2026’s biggest theatrical events from the moment it was announced. Nolan shot ‘The Odyssey’ entirely in 70mm IMAX, with Universal positioning the film as a mythic action epic built for the largest possible screen.

No formal reviews have been released yet, with the film still under embargo, but the London premiere made clear that Universal is launching ‘The Odyssey’ with the full force of a global prestige blockbuster. Between Nolan’s post-‘Oppenheimer’ momentum, the massive ensemble and the scale of the red carpet, the film has already become one of the summer’s defining movie events before audiences have even had their say.

‘The Odyssey’ opens in theaters July 17.
