A pre-wedding game spirals into emotional fallout as Zendaya and Robert Pattinson confront the consequences of saying too much — and too late — in Kristoffer Borgli’s sharp new relationship drama.

A24 has released the full trailer for The Drama, a tense, intimacy-driven relationship film starring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, arriving in theaters April 3. Written and directed by Kristoffer Borgli (Dream Scenario), the film explores how a single revelation can destabilize even the most carefully constructed relationship.

Zendaya stars as Emma Harwood, a publishing professional engaged to Charlie Thompson (Pattinson), a British museum director. As their wedding week unfolds, the couple participates in a seemingly harmless game with friends — one designed around radical honesty. What begins as playful confession quickly turns volatile when Emma reveals a deeply personal moment from her past, sending Charlie into an emotional spiral that neither can fully contain.

The trailer frames the fallout with Borgli’s trademark discomfort-forward sensibility, turning conversational missteps into psychological fault lines. “You have to stop thinking about it,” Emma tells Charlie, only for him to respond, pointedly, “How do you say, ‘Stop thinking?’” The exchange captures the film’s central tension: the impossibility of unknowing something once it’s been said.

The cast also includes Mamoudou Athie, Alana Haim, and Hailey Gates. Producing the film are Ari Aster, Lars Knudsen, and Tyler Campellone, continuing A24’s collaboration with filmmakers operating at the intersection of anxiety, satire, and emotional realism.

The Drama marks Borgli’s follow-up to Dream Scenario, the 2023 dark comedy that earned Nicolas Cage a Golden Globe nomination and solidified Borgli as a filmmaker drawn to social discomfort and identity unraveling. Here, that sensibility is applied to romantic partnership, asking whether radical transparency strengthens love — or quietly destroys it.

Zendaya’s upcoming slate includes HBO’s Euphoria Season 3 and Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, while Pattinson is also set to appear in Nolan’s epic alongside Dune: Part Three and Netflix’s Here Comes the Flood. The Drama positions both stars in a more intimate, dialogue-driven register, trading spectacle for emotional exposure.
