Netflix’s long-awaited ‘Peaky Blinders’ film raises the stakes as Tommy Shelby faces his legacy in wartime Britain.

By order of the Peaky Blinders, Tommy Shelby is back — and he’s not coming alone. Netflix has released the official trailer for Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, the feature-length continuation of the hit crime saga, and the footage finally introduces Barry Keoghan as Tommy’s mysterious “gypsy son,” setting the stage for a new generational power struggle inside the Shelby empire.

The film jumps forward to Birmingham in 1940, placing the Shelby family against the backdrop of World War II. According to the official logline, the story finds Tommy (Cillian Murphy) pulled out of self-imposed exile and forced to confront what may be his most dangerous reckoning yet. The trailer leans heavily into the show’s signature mood — smoke-filled rooms, razor-sharp dialogue and an escalating sense that Tommy’s past decisions are finally closing in on him.

Barry Keoghan’s arrival is the headline-grabber. While the trailer keeps many details under wraps, his presence signals a volatile new dynamic for the Shelby bloodline. Early footage suggests a character who carries both the mystique and the unpredictability that have long defined the Peaky Blinders world. For longtime fans, the introduction of Tommy’s son raises immediate questions about legacy, loyalty and whether the next generation will preserve the empire or destroy it from within.

The film also brings back several familiar faces from the original series, including Sophie Rundle, Ned Dennehy, Packy Lee and Ian Peck, while expanding the ensemble with Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth, Jay Lycurgo and Stephen Graham. Behind the camera, series creator Steven Knight returns to write the screenplay, with Tom Harper directing after previously helming episodes of the original show.

Visually, the trailer maintains the franchise’s cinematic evolution, leaning more heavily into large-scale wartime imagery while preserving the intimate, character-driven tension that made the series a global phenomenon. Netflix appears to be positioning The Immortal Man as both a continuation and a potential launching point for the franchise’s future.

Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man will stream exclusively on Netflix. If the first full trailer is any indication, Tommy Shelby’s story is far from finished — but the cost of his legacy may finally come due.
