‘Euphoria’ Unveils First-Look Photos From Season 3 as HBO Signals a Darker, More Introspective Return

HBO

Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi and the core cast re-emerge in stark new images teasing the long-awaited next chapter of HBO’s cultural juggernaut.

Following the release of its first teaser footage, HBO has now unveiled a striking new set of first-look images from Season 3 of Euphoria, offering a quiet but loaded glimpse into the series’ long-gestating return.

The images center once again on Zendaya’s Rue Bennett, seen seated alone in what appears to be a church pew — a contemplative, almost funereal image that signals the season’s heavier emotional terrain. Elsewhere, Sydney Sweeney’s Cassie Howard clutches a melting ice cream cone, Jacob Elordi’s Nate Jacobs is shown working in a kitchen with raw meat, and Maude Apatow, Alexa Demie, and Hunter Schafer appear together in front of a looming, gallery-sized painting. The visuals are restrained, symbolic, and deliberately opaque — very much in keeping with Euphoria’s visual language.

Season 3 brings back the core ensemble: Zendaya, Sweeney, Elordi, Apatow, Demie, and Schafer, while expanding the cast with several notable additions. Martha Kelly and Chloe Cherry have been promoted to series regulars, joined by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and Toby Wallace. Rosalía, Marshawn Lynch, and Kadeem Hardison were previously announced as new cast members earlier this year, alongside Darrell Britt-Gibson, Priscilla Delgado, James Landry Hébert, and Anna Van Patten.

Sharon Stone is also confirmed to appear this season, adding another prestige presence to the already stacked ensemble.

Several familiar faces will not return. Barbie Ferreira, who played Kat Hernandez in the first two seasons, previously exited the series citing creative differences. Angus Cloud, who portrayed Fezco, died in 2023. Storm Reid, who played Rue’s younger sister Gia Bennett, is also not returning for Season 3.

Euphoria remains one of HBO’s most influential modern series — a lightning rod for discourse around youth, addiction, sexuality, and identity — and its prolonged production cycle has only heightened anticipation. Season 3 marks the show’s first new episodes in years, arriving with both enormous expectations and a changed cultural context.

The series is created, written, directed, and executive produced by Sam Levinson, with executive producers including Kevin Turen, Ravi Nandan, Drake, Adel “Future” Nur, Zendaya, Will Greenfield, Ashley Levinson, Ron Leshem, Daphna Levin, and Hadas Mozes Lichtenstein. The show is produced by A24.

HBO has not yet announced a premiere date, but the newly released images suggest a season defined less by spectacle and more by consequence — a quiet escalation rather than a reset.
