Sam Mendes’ ambitious four-part Beatles saga lands an all-star ensemble of Saoirse Ronan, Anna Sawai, Aimee Lou Wood, and Mia McKenna-Bruce as Linda, Yoko, Pattie, and Maureen — the women behind the band that changed the world.

Sony Pictures has confirmed the official casting for The Beatles — A Four-Film Cinematic Event, the sweeping four-part biopic series from Oscar-winning filmmaker Sam Mendes. Saoirse Ronan, Anna Sawai, Aimee Lou Wood, and Mia McKenna-Bruce will portray Linda McCartney, Yoko Ono, Pattie Boyd, and Maureen Starkey — four women whose love stories with the Fab Four became as iconic as the band’s music itself.

Ronan, Sawai, Wood, and McKenna-Bruce join an already remarkable ensemble that includes Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, and Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr. Each of Mendes’ four interconnected films will tell The Beatles’ story through the distinct perspective of one band member — charting their rise from Liverpool anonymity to global cultural revolution. It’s the first time Apple Corps Ltd. and The Beatles’ estates have granted full life rights and access to the band’s catalog for a scripted feature project.

“These four women are fascinating and unique figures in their own right,” Mendes said in a statement, “and I’m thrilled that we’ve persuaded four of the most talented women in film today to join this amazing adventure.”

Ronan will embody Linda McCartney, the celebrated photographer who met Paul McCartney in 1967 and later joined him as a member of Wings. Sawai, fresh off her Emmy and Golden Globe wins for Shōgun, will take on the role of avant-garde artist Yoko Ono, whose creative and romantic partnership with Lennon shaped his final years. Wood (The White Lotus, Sex Education) steps into the role of Pattie Boyd, the model and muse who inspired some of rock’s most enduring love songs. And BAFTA Rising Star winner McKenna-Bruce (How to Have Sex) portrays Maureen Starkey, the teenage Cavern Club fan who married Ringo Starr at the height of Beatlemania.

Production will be handled by Neal Street Productions in association with Apple Corps for Sony Pictures, with Mendes producing alongside Pippa Harris, Julie Pastor, and Alexandra Derbyshire. The four films — each designed as a companion piece to the others — are slated for a full worldwide theatrical rollout beginning in April 2028.

The casting announcement signals the next major milestone in what is poised to be one of the most ambitious biographical film projects ever undertaken. Mendes’ vision — a quartet of interconnected narratives converging around the same cultural moment — promises a cinematic experience as layered, daring, and emotionally resonant as the music that inspired it.

Ronan is repped by CAA. Sawai is repped by WME, 42, United Agents and Chris Abramson. Wood is repped by CAA, Independent and Sloane, Offer, Weber, Dern. McKenna-Bruce is represented by UTA, 42, Luber Roklin and Jackoway Austen.
