Lionsgate is set to produce The Housemaid, an adaptation of Freida McFadden’s bestselling novel. The psychological thriller, directed by Paul Feig, stars Sydney Sweeney as Millie, a young woman who begins work as a housemaid for a seemingly perfect couple, played by Amanda Seyfried and Andrew. However, as Millie delves deeper into the family’s life, she uncovers shocking secrets that threaten her safety.

The film marks another collaboration between Feig and Lionsgate, after the success of A Simple Favor. This time, The Housemaid promises to deliver suspense and intrigue, with a focus on powerful female leads.

Sydney Sweeney’s role as Millie adds to her growing list of intense and dramatic performances, following her success in Euphoria. Seyfried, known for her versatility from Mamma Mia! to The Dropout, adds complexity to the film’s dynamic. With a screenplay by Rebecca Sonnenshine and a stellar production team behind it, the adaptation is expected to captivate audiences.

Lionsgate Motion Picture Group co-president Erin Westerman expressed excitement over the casting, calling Sweeney and Seyfried “perfect for Millie and Nina” due to their nuanced performances. The film is sure to highlight the duality of seemingly ordinary lives harboring dark secrets.

The Housemaid will be produced by Feig and Laura Fischer, with Rebecca Sonnenshine adapting the screenplay. Fans of McFadden’s novel can look forward to seeing this thrilling narrative come to life.
