HBO Drops First Look of

Zendaya’s Rue as Season 3 starts Shooting

After a three-year hiatus, HBO’s Euphoria has officially begun filming its highly anticipated third season. The network confirmed the start of production with a moody first-look image featuring Zendaya’s Rue, her expression unreadable as she gazes over her shoulder in a dimly lit setting. Accompanying the image was a simple but impactful message shared across HBO’s social media channels: “Euphoria season 3 is in production.”

The long delay between seasons has been attributed to several factors, including the increasingly busy schedules of its rising-star cast, led by Emmy-winner Zendaya, and creator Sam Levinson’s involvement in HBO’s ill-fated The Idol. Additionally, reports of creative differences between Zendaya and Levinson surfaced over the years, further complicating the show’s return. Despite these hurdles, Euphoria season 3 is moving forward, with Hunter Schafer, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, and Colman Domingo all set to reprise their roles. However, Storm Reid will not be returning.

Few plot details have been revealed, but Zendaya previously hinted in an October podcast interview that season 3 will feature a time jump, finally moving its young characters beyond their high school years. The decision to advance the timeline reflects the evolving nature of the show, allowing its cast to take on more mature storylines.

While HBO has yet to announce a premiere date, Euphoria remains one of the network’s most anticipated projects. The show’s last season, which premiered in early 2022, was met with both critical acclaim and controversy, earning multiple Emmy Awards while sparking debates over its raw and unfiltered portrayal of addiction, mental health, and teenage life.

Meanwhile, another major HBO series, House of the Dragon, also provided fans with a production update. At a recent fan convention in Orlando, cast members Matt Smith and Fabian Frankel confirmed that season 3 is well underway, with filming having begun last month.

For now, Euphoria fans can take solace in knowing that season 3 is finally in motion—though they’ll have to wait a bit longer to learn when they can expect Rue and company back on their screens.
