Ana de Armas, Keanu Reeves, and Director Len Wiseman Reveal What to Expect From the Highly Anticipated Action Thriller
The John Wick universe is expanding once again with Ballerina, and IGN has revealed four exclusive images from the upcoming film, featuring Ana de Armas, Ian McShane, Norman Reedus, and Anjelica Huston. This latest look at the John Wick spin-off arrives ahead of a brand-new trailer, set to debut on March 19 as part of a special livestream fan event across Lionsgate’s social platforms.
Set between the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and John Wick: Chapter 4, Ballerina introduces de Armas as Eve Macarro, an elite assassin trained by the Ruska Roma, the same shadowy organization that raised John Wick. With Keanu Reeves making a cameo, the film bridges the gap between the two Wick chapters while forging its own path in the high-stakes world of professional killers.
A Deadly Ballerina’s Quest for Vengeance
Ana De Armas’ Eve is a warrior molded in the same tradition as John Wick but with her own motivations and fighting style. The actress describes Eve as someone shaped by personal tragedy, driven by revenge against the men responsible for her father’s murder.
“Eve has been trained to be the best among the best, by the same people that trained John Wick,” de Armas explained. “She’s smaller than most of her opponents, so I wanted to make the fights feel real—using her speed, agility, and environment to turn everyday objects into deadly weapons. Every set piece became our playground.”
This distinct approach to action sequences is a hallmark of the John Wick series, and Ballerina aims to push those creative boundaries even further. Director Len Wiseman, taking over from longtime Wick helmer Chad Stahelski, shared his excitement about blending his own vision with the established aesthetic of the franchise.
“The tone and aesthetic of John Wick is largely what I love and respect about the franchise,” Wiseman told IGN. “With Ballerina, I wanted to create something familiar yet fresh, striking a balance that would satisfy fans while bringing in new elements of my own.”

Reeves and de Armas: A Full-Circle Collaboration
For Keanu Reeves, returning as John Wick for Ballerina was an opportunity to expand the mythology of the franchise. “It was so great to have the chance to play John Wick again and discover more of the John Wick world,” he said.

De Armas, who previously worked with Reeves on Knock Knock and Exposed, was thrilled to collaborate once more, this time stepping into his world. “Keanu has always been a huge influence on me,” she shared. “Seeing him walk onto set as John Wick again was surreal. He’s a leader, a force on set, and always a gentleman. His creativity and input during rehearsals were incredibly inspiring.”
A New Chapter: Watch the Trailer
With Ballerina, the John Wick franchise continues to expand, offering a fresh perspective on its meticulously crafted world of assassins. As the first film in the series not directed by Stahelski, it will be interesting to see how Wiseman’s vision complements the established Wick style.
With its mix of high-octane action, emotional depth, and an all-star cast, Ballerina is shaping up to be an essential addition to the John Wick saga. The film hits theaters on June 6, 2025.
