‘The Fantastic Four’ Are Ready to Clobber Galactus in First Trailer

Marvel

First Steps is one of the most anticipated

MCU movies in years, as F4 get’s the Marvel Treatment

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is set to expand once again, this time welcoming its most famous superhero family in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The highly anticipated first trailer has dropped, offering a glimpse into Marvel Studios’ take on the beloved characters, a retro-futuristic aesthetic, and the looming presence of Galactus, one of the franchise’s most formidable antagonists.

For decades, fans have clamored for a definitive cinematic adaptation of The Fantastic Four, Marvel’s First Family. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1961, Fantastic Four No. 1 marked the inception of the Marvel Universe as we know it today. However, despite their prominence in the comics, the team has yet to receive a universally beloved film adaptation.

Previous attempts at bringing the Fantastic Four to the big screen have been met with varying degrees of success. 20th Century Fox produced two mid-2000s films that, while financially successful, were critically lukewarm. The franchise then suffered a major setback with 2015’s Fantastic Four, a film that was both a box office disaster and a creative failure. A lesser-known, low-budget 1994 version, produced by Roger Corman, was famously never released and remains a curiosity among fans.

Now, with Disney’s acquisition of Fox in 2019, the Fantastic Four finally falls under the Marvel Studios banner, giving Kevin Feige and his team the opportunity to integrate them into the wider MCU. Since the announcement in 2020 that Marvel was working on a Fantastic Four movie, excitement has been at an all-time high.

Meet the Cast and Crew

Initially, Spider-Man trilogy director Jon Watts was attached to helm the project, but he later exited, making way for WandaVision director Matt Shakman to take the reins. Under his direction, the film promises to bring a fresh vision to the classic characters while paying homage to their comic book roots.

Marvel

A Retro-Futuristic Take on the Fantastic Four

One of the most intriguing elements of the First Steps trailer is its visual style. Unlike the modern, high-tech aesthetic of many MCU films, Fantastic Four appears to lean into a mid-20th-century-inspired, retro-futuristic look, reminiscent of the team’s early comic book adventures. The trailer features a blend of sleek, vintage-inspired technology and cosmic grandeur, hinting at a unique stylistic approach that sets it apart from previous adaptations.

Marvel Studios has remained tight-lipped about the exact plot, but the trailer teases an impending threat from Galactus, a being of immense power who consumes planets to sustain himself. His inclusion suggests that the film will embrace the more cosmic elements of the Fantastic Four mythology, potentially setting the stage for larger MCU storylines.

The Road to Release

After years of speculation, shifting directors, and eager fan anticipation, The Fantastic Four: First Steps is officially set for release on July 25, 2025. Screenwriter Eric Pearson, known for his work on Thor: Ragnarok and Black Widow, has penned the current draft of the script, ensuring the film is in experienced hands.

As the first true introduction of the Fantastic Four into the MCU, the stakes couldn’t be higher. If the trailer is any indication, Marvel is positioning the film to be a significant tentpole for the franchise’s future, with the potential to expand the cosmic side of the universe and introduce new characters and conflicts.

With only a few months left until release, fans are eagerly dissecting every frame of the trailer, speculating on hidden Easter eggs, and debating how the film will connect to the broader Marvel universe. One thing is certain: Marvel’s First Family is finally home, and their journey is just beginning.
