The 2024 Emmy Awards recognized exceptional talent and storytelling across television, with Shōgun and The Bear dominating their respective categories. The ceremony celebrated a diverse range of performances and productions, marking historic wins for Asian actors Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai. With Hacks, Baby Reindeer, and RuPaul’s Drag Race also securing wins, the night was a testament to the incredible creativity and passion driving the industry forward.

The 76th Primetime Emmy Awards took place in Los Angeles, delivering a memorable night of recognition for television’s most compelling dramas, comedies, and limited series. This year’s event, broadcast live from the Peacock Theatre, highlighted both seasoned and rising stars, along with series that have left an indelible mark on audiences.

FX’s Shōgun proved to be the night’s biggest success, claiming the coveted Best Drama Series award. Hiroyuki Sanada’s portrayal in the series also earned him Lead Actor in a Drama Series, while Anna Sawai took home the Lead Actress in a Drama Series award, making history as the first actress of Asian descent to win in this category. Their performances captivated voters and audience members alike, further solidifying Shōgun as one of the standout dramas of the year.

In the comedy sphere, The Bear made waves, with Jeremy Allen White winning Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, following his stellar work in the show’s second season. His co-stars, Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Liza Colón-Zayas, were awarded Supporting Actor and Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, respectively, cementing The Bear’s dominance. However, Hacks clinched the top spot in the comedy category, taking home the Best Comedy Series title. Jean Smart added to the show’s accolades by winning Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.

The limited series categories saw Baby Reindeer reign supreme, winning Best Limited Series, with Jessica Gunning receiving Supporting Actress in a Limited Series, and Richard Gadd taking the Lead Actor in a Limited Series award. Meanwhile, Jodie Foster captured attention and accolades for her outstanding performance in True Detective: Night Country, winning Lead Actress in a Limited Series.
