Pete Davidson made his return to “Saturday Night Live” on November 2, appearing in a hilarious musical sketch with his friend and host for the night, John Mulaney. The sketch took viewers through a comedic journey involving a milk purchase at a Port Authority Duane Reade, evolving into a series of New York City-centric musical parodies. Featuring nods to “Hamilton,” “Cabaret,” and even a Timothée Chalamet look-alike contest, the episode was a quintessential Mulaney spectacle that brought Davidson back to his comedy roots.

long Running Musical Parody Sketch this time Featuring ‘Hamilton,’ & a Timothée Chalamet Look-Alike Contest

Pete Davidson returned to “Saturday Night Live” on November 2 to appear in a lively sketch alongside his longtime friend and show host, John Mulaney. The sketch began simply enough, with a character trying to buy milk from the cashier at a Duane Reade located at Port Authority—a choice that any true New Yorker would probably avoid. From this premise, the sketch quickly grew into a full-cast celebration, taking on several Broadway classics with a distinct New York twist.

The musical numbers began with a parody of “The Lion King,” where Kenan Thompson and Ego Nwodim sang about the dubious milk. Next came a spoof of “The Sound of Music” from Marcello Hernandez and Mulaney, which focused on the eternal annoyance of shampoo being locked up in stores. Bowen Yang delivered a twisted version of a Greyhound bus driver’s life set to “Master of the House” from “Les Misérables.” Chloe Fineman then stepped in to lead “All the twinks arriving for the Timothée Chalamet look-alike contest,” channeling Chalamet while singing to the tune of “Willkommen” from “Cabaret.”

The hilarity continued with Devon Walker playing New York City mayor Eric Adams, addressing his dubious associations with Turkey, all to the upbeat tune of “Prince Ali” from “Aladdin.” Andy Samberg joined in, portraying the dead bear that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. admitted to dumping in Central Park, set to the iconic “Alexander Hamilton” anthem from “Hamilton.” Finally, the entire cast closed the sketch with a showstopping parody of “We Go Together” from “Grease,” bringing all of the quirky elements together.

Davidson and Mulaney brought the audience to laughter mid-sketch when they broke character, calling each other by their real names, resulting in Davidson cracking a smile and getting some extra applause from the crowd.

Davidson, who was a part of the “SNL” cast from 2014 to 2022, gained popularity with his stand-up segments during “Weekend Update” where he humorously addressed his personal life, as well as through his portrayal of recurring characters like Chad. Davidson also hosted “SNL” back in 2023.

Mulaney, known for his similar tri-state area musical parodies in sketches such as “Airport Sushi,” “Bodega Bathroom,” “Diner Lobster,” and “Subway Churro,” delivered yet another classic with this recent installment.
