‘Opus’ Trailer: Ayo Edebiri and John Malkovich Lead A24’s Chilling Pop Music Horror
A24 has unveiled the first trailer for Opus, its latest foray into psychological horror, starring Emmy winner Ayo Edebiri (The Bear) and the legendary John Malkovich. The film promises a haunting exploration of fame, creativity, and obsession, with Edebiri playing a young writer who becomes ensnared in the unsettling world of a reclusive pop star and his fanatical devotees.
In Opus, Edebiri’s character is invited to the secluded compound of Malkovich’s enigmatic pop icon. The gripping trailer hints at a chilling atmosphere, with suspenseful sequences and eerie visuals that reflect A24’s signature style.
Joining Edebiri and Malkovich are Juliette Lewis, Murray Bartlett, Amber Midthunder, and Tony Hale, with a supporting cast including Tatanka Means, Young Mazino, Tamera Tomakili, and Stephanie Suganami. The film marks the feature directorial debut of Mark Anthony Green, who previously directed the acclaimed short Trapeze, U.S.A. and built a reputation as a creative force at GQ magazine.
Produced by Josh Bachove, Collin Creighton, Brad Weston (Makeready), and Jelani Johnson and Poppy Hanks (MACRO Film Studios), Opus also features an impressive roster of executive producers, including Charles D. King, Sara Newkirk Simon, The-Dream, and music legend Nile Rodgers.
