have been unveiled, as production kicks off.

Directed and written by Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart, Hostiles), Deliver Me From Nowhere brings Warren Zanes’ book to life, chronicling the creation of Springsteen’s iconic 1982 album Nebraska. Filming is currently underway in Springsteen’s native New Jersey and New York, with additional production in Los Angeles. The movie is expected to hit theaters in 2025.

According to a press release, Springsteen’s Nebraska recording marked a significant moment in his life—a period he would only openly discuss decades later. The album is regarded as a turning point in Springsteen’s career, standing as a landmark in his musical journey and serving as an enduring source of inspiration for generations of artists and musicians. Recorded on a 4-track recorder in Springsteen’s New Jersey bedroom—without The E Street Band—Nebraska is considered one of his most raw and evocative works, featuring a haunting acoustic soundscape that captures the essence of lost souls searching for hope.

The cast features Stephen Graham as Springsteen’s father, Paul Walter Hauser as guitar tech Mike Batlan, and Odessa Young, rumored to be playing a love interest. In May, it was reported that Jeremy Strong is also in talks to portray Jon Landau, Springsteen’s longtime manager.

“Beginning production on this film is an incredibly humbling and thrilling journey,” Cooper said in a statement. “Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska has profoundly shaped my artistic vision. The album’s raw, unvarnished portrayal of life’s trials and resilience resonates deeply with me. Our film aims to capture that same spirit, bringing Warren Zanes’ compelling narrative of Bruce’s life to the screen with authenticity and hope, honoring Bruce’s legacy in a transformative cinematic experience. It has been a great pleasure to collaborate with Bruce and Jon [Landau] as I tell their story, and their creative energy fuels every part of this journey.”

Produced by Disney’s 20th Century Studios, Deliver Me From Nowhere is being brought to life by Cooper alongside producers Ellen Goldsmith-Vein (The Maze Runner trilogy, Juror No. 2) and Eric Robinson (Kodachrome, Last Days), who worked with Cooper in developing the project. Scott Stuber (Frankenstein, Ted) also joins as a producer, while Tracey Landon (Maestro, Amsterdam) and Warren Zanes serve as executive producers.

The anticipation for Deliver Me From Nowhere continues to grow as production unfolds, offering fans a glimpse into the untold story of one of Bruce Springsteen’s most iconic albums.
