FX’s Shōgun and The Bear dominate the Emmy race, with Shōgun making history before the Primetime ceremony and The Bear eyeing another record-breaking comedy win. Predictions for Sunday include potential surprises like RuPaul’s Drag Race extending its Emmy streak.

With 14 Creative Arts Emmy wins, Shōgun sets the stage for drama, while The Bear seeks to surpass its own comedy record.

As the 76th Emmy Awards approach, FX’s Shōgun has already made history, winning 14 Creative Arts Emmys and becoming the most-awarded program in a single year. This achievement surpasses John Adams and Game of Thrones, setting the stage for a major sweep on Emmy night. With 8 more nominations in the main ceremony, Shōgun could extend its record, solidifying its place in Emmy history.

Another FX series, The Bear, is also in contention for breaking its own record. After winning 10 Emmys last year, it has already secured 7 Creative Arts Emmys in 2024, and with 9 more nominations to its name, The Bear is poised to set new benchmarks for a comedy series.

In addition to Shōgun and The Bear, several other shows are expected to make history. RuPaul’s Drag Race could extend its record for the most Emmy wins by a reality program, and Saturday Night Live has already hit 101 Emmy wins, with the potential to add even more. Other significant moments to watch include potential wins for Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Crown, and breakout performances from Quinta Brunson (Abbott Elementary), Hiroyuki Sanada (Shōgun), and Jean Smart (Hacks).
