Barry Keoghan and actress Nykia Adams spoke with IndieWire at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), following the premiere of Andrea Arnold’s Bird. Keoghan, who plays a leading role in the film, discussed his excitement for future projects, including the much-anticipated Peaky Blinders movie.

Peaky Blinders fans have been eagerly awaiting updates on the film, which marks the continuation of the popular TV series that concluded in 2022. Though details about Cillian Murphy’s role in the film remain closely guarded, Keoghan couldn’t help but express his enthusiasm after reading the script. “I wouldn’t be attached to it if I didn’t love it,” he said, adding that he has already spoken with Murphy about the project. “It’s going to be epic,” he teased, leaving fans buzzing with anticipation.

Keoghan also reflected on his experience working on Bird, alongside Nykia Adams and director Andrea Arnold. The actor praised Arnold’s distinct filmmaking style, particularly the trust and creative freedom she afforded her actors. “It was questionable in the moment, but you realize later on it makes sense. You believe this is life,” Adams remarked about Arnold’s unique approach. Keoghan added that Arnold’s focus on vulnerability and naturalism fascinated him throughout the project.

In addition to Peaky Blinders, Keoghan is also set to star in Trey Edward Shults’ upcoming film alongside The Weeknd and Jenna Ortega. While details remain under wraps, Keoghan hinted that fans should expect big news soon, saying, “We’re just waiting on some good news to drop.”
